Traditionally a domestic process, brewing in Denmark, Sweden and Norway has found a slightly larger domain, the craft brewery. Unfortunately, competition from dominating breweries such as Heineken of Amsterdam (the largest European brewery), and Carlsberg of Copenhagen, make it difficult for true craft breweries to venture across the pond. Additionally, the constraints of tradition and the church stifle creative expression for Northern European brewers. read more...
