Kriek Freak

Well friends, it’s already here.  Just when you thought your new exercise program was showing positive results, the day to flush all your progress down the toilet is upon us.  Ah Thanksgiving, the day when no one will question your practice of drinking the gravy out of the gravy boat with a straw.  Yes, it’s the day to go all out, to throw dietary caution to the wind.  And Gordon’s has just the products to assist you in your gorging endeavor.

This week’s featured beer, Cascade Kriek, is a fantastic addition to your Thanksgiving table.  Read more about this delicious Flanders Red below.  However, if you’re like any of us, you enjoy having multiple beer options available on Thanksgiving.  Fortunately, Gordon’s has you covered with a duo of tastings at our Main St and Watertown locations, themed to fit everyone’s favorite holiday.  Check out the line ups below that will pair various beers with the four parts of the Thanksgiving feast.

Moody St. Throwdown!

Don’t forget the monumental tasting happening at our Moody St. location on Thursday, Nov. 19 from 5-8.  Ray, the beer manager, will be on hand to taste some rare, high end beers while offering 10% off on all single serve craft beers, 12oz and up!   Come in for huge savings and an epic tasting.

It’s no secret that Cascade Brewing has been making some stellar, world class sours.  Housed inside the Raccoon Lodge and Brewpub in Portland, OR, Cascade specializes in crafting beers that use, in the words of brew master Ron Gansberg, yeast and barrel aging instead of hops to produce flavor.  Cascade Kriek is actually a Flanders Red or Oud Bruin (think Rodenbach) that has been brewed with fresh cherries.  Although flavored Flanders Red is not a popular style (the only other example that comes to mind is Kasteel Rouge), Cascade Kriek makes the case that it should be.  Clocking in at 6.6% ABV, it's lip-smackingly tart with a subtly sweet cherry finish.  The carbonation is strong which, along with the cherry nuance, is the perfect accompaniment to the heavy fair most of us will consume on Thanksgiving.  On Sale!  $15.99/750ml Buy Now.
