The Yarden Gewurztraminer combines litchi, citrus and floral characters with nuances of spiced cider. This flavorful wine, which has just a hint of sweetness, offers a lingering, complex finish. While ready to drink, the Yarden Gewurztraminer will remain in good shape for a couple of years following the harvest. The wine’s character lends itself well to standing alone as an aperitif, but we also enjoy it with strong-flavored foods, such as a good fish stew, or with foods with some heat to them, such as Indian.

The Yarden Gewurztraminer is made entirely from Gewurztraminer grapes grown in the northern Golan Heights vineyard of El Rom. This cool area gives the fruit an opportunity to hang a long time on the vine, developing its distinctive varietal character. The cold fermentation in stainless steel preserves these traits in the wine.

The Galilee (or Galil) is the most northern, and generally considered the best, appellation in Israel. The highest quality area within the appellation is the Golan Heights (or simply the Golan), the coldest region in Israel. The vineyards on this volcanic plateau rise from 400 meters (1,300 feet) above sea level to 1,200 meters (3,900 feet) and receive snowfall in the winter. The Golan Heights Winery is located in the town of Katzrin, in the central Golan.
