Look, I could wax poetic about the sweet fruit and steely spine of this gorgeous white Burgundy. Or I could write a great exegesis of its origins and its particular qualities – vineyard and soil type, winemaking philosophy and viticultural practices, et al. I could even try to find some marketing hype to convince you to buy this wine. But I am not going to.
Instead, I am simply going to tell you that you should buy this wine. If you’re in the market for excellent Chardonnay of the French stripe, with Burgundian restraint and heroic fruit, you really should grab a box of this. Moreover, the Ch. de Pierreclos has really become one of the finest and best sources for exceptional quality wine from the ever expanding and improving Mâconnais. Investment has led to reinvestment and today the entire estate has converted to organic practices in the vineyard.
But I am getting away from my point. This is just flat out delicious and it sells for short money compared to its outstanding quality. Buy this by the case. Or two. Seriously.
2016 Domaine du Ch. de Pierreclos Mâcon-Bussières
Floral and toasted notes on the nose, with a hint of anise and orchard fruits. The palate is ample, with a long and steely spine, culminating in an intense and long finish. Exceptional.
