Casa di Baal

October 28, 2021 @ 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Join us for a truly special terroir driven tasting and learn about what biodynamic wines are, what makes a “pet nat” so special and why we should be supporting family farms who support our planet. Each of these wines have been chosen to pair with fall dishes so get ready to be surprised!

About Casa di Baal:Conversing with Francesca and Gennaro about their philosophy, it is hard not to get excited about these wines. Still family owned and run to this day in each terroir, there is a unique ecosystem that is healthiest when farmers have a respect for the environment and avoid harmful processes like over fertilizing. In the end, this only strengthens the plants and therefore gives vitality to the wine. In the winery, the use of native yeasts and the idea of spontaneous, instead of forced, fermentation is another way to promote the “local flavors” of the wine. As of 2014 the winery is also in its second year of biodynamic winemaking, thus truly continuing to create a terroir driven wine.

Featured Wines:

La Mossa
Varietal: Fiano 70%, Moscato Pet Nat 30%
An adventure in sparkling wine, focusing on the bright and round Fiano along with the floral and aromatic Moscato Giallo. This Pet Nat style of wine is almost more reminiscent of a juicy and hazy IPA with all of its tropical and floral notes and a somewhat plush texture thanks to no disgorgement. The first vintage yielded only 1,000 bottles

Il Tocco di Baal
Varietal: Aglianico 100%
A sparkling wine from Aglianico sounds surprising, but the idea of creating a rose style with an earlier harvest seemed like an interesting possibility. Not what you’d expect, as there are notes of fresh wild berries, orange peel, cherry and spice.

Marialonga
Varietal: Fiano 80%, Falanghina 20%
New as of 2020 this is really just another incredible expression of Fiano if you ask me. In this “baby orange” wine Fiano shows through with hints of smoke and complexity only found in skin contact wines.

Aglianico di Baal
Varietal: Aglianico 100%
An Aglianico that is ready drink! Amazing right?! Time in the bottle has allowed tannins to soften and this wine to truly come into its own. Classic earthy undertones are present as well as a mix of bright red fruits, darker woodsy berries, and even flowers.
