Impressions of raisins and walnuts are married to silky, dried red berry and currant flavors and aromas in this lush, finely structured wine, which shows a velvety, mellow texture supported by fresh, clean acidic notes.
The 10-Year Old Tawny has a mellow nose with smoked walnut, singed leather and fireside hearth ? warm and autumnal. The palate has extrovert opening with notes of cloves and Xmas cake. I find this to be a little austere for a tawny port: reserved and conservative, but with fine delineation towards the saline finish. This is a commendable Tawny, although juxtaposed against the 20-Year Old simply reveals what this is missing.Aromas of orange zest and dried cranberries. Sweet caramel flavors on the palate. Intense and rich with warm spice character. Pair with salted nuts.Refined, with bright flavors of dried berry, plum compote and cherry tart that are long and lush. Very creamy on the finish, which features chocolate mousse. Drink now.—K.M.The 10-Year Old Tawny has a mellow nose with smoked walnut, singed leather and fireside hearth - warm and autumnal.
