This will be short and sweet. Tenuta Sette Ponti’s Oreno has been one of the most successful and classy Super Tuscan wines since its inception. A classic Bordeaux blend from some of the most remarkable vineyards in the heart of Chianti it captures the essence of the category: a sense of French balance intermixed with an Italian brashness.
The 2016 is an absolute showstopper, earning 99 points from James Suckling, the highest he has ever scored this perennial over-achiever. A favorite of Galloni as well, I think it’s safe to assume his score will be equally enthusiastic.
Regardless, this is a sharp purchase sure to deliver the goods whether you drink it upon arrival or after a decade or two in bottle.
2016 Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno
"Gorgeous floral and deep, dark berry aromas with hints of spices such as cinnamon and hazelnuts. Full body and ultra-fine and strong tannins that are powerful yet so sleek and beautiful. Fantastic length and texture. Deep, dark and profound. Takes you on a long journey and shows you its true character." 99 pts. James Suckling
