Past, Present & Future, America’s First Growth Returns: 2016 Ridge Fall Pre-arrival

Although there are many trends going on in California at the moment, the timeless classicism of Ridge will never go out of fashion. Their signature energetic complexity and endearing poise has melted wine enthusiasts’ hearts for decades. Of course they have. A bottle of Ridge – no matter the vintage or blend – always guarantees an expansive look into some of California’s best and most noble terroir. I mean this by how the wines retain place both texturally but also in specific flavor, always offering a unique arrangement of signature herbal, luscious brambly fruit and graphite minerality.
2016 marks a return to elegance for California. Unlike 2015 – which was warmer and had far lower (and brutal) yields – the 2016’s feel more refined, a touch lighter in texture (a good thing) and are much more aromatically expressive. “Readers who appreciate the transparency and nuance of site-specific Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs and Bordeaux blends will adore the 2016s from the Santa Cruz Mountains,” reports Antonio Galloni. “The wines are aromatically nuanced, delineated and highly expressive of their origins.” According to Jancis Robinson, 2016 bore wines of “very good complexity, and higher-than-average natural acidity.” For fans of classical balance, age-worthy structure and poise, 2016 will surely be a keeper.
We are very proud to offer the 2016 Ridge pre-arrival to you.

2016 Ridge Lytton Springs 750 ml
“The 2016 Lytton Springs is a powerful, dense wine. Black cherry, plum, lavender, new leather, cloves, licorice and menthol flesh out. Deep, plush and richly textured, the 2016 Lytton Springs packs a real punch. The 23% Petite Syrah is felt in the wine’s darkness and overall gravitas. There is more than enough richness and structure to support many years of fine drinking. What a gorgeous wine this is.” 95 Points, Antonio Galloni

2016 Ridge Pagani Ranch Zinfandel 750 ml
“The 2016 Zinfandel Pagani Ranch is bright, focused and beautifully perfumed. Bright red cherry, blood orange, pomegranate, mint and rose petal notes are all lifted in this exquisite, finessed Zinfandel. Silky, medium in body and gracious, the 2016 is absolutely sublime. The oak is just a bit pronounced at this stage, but that should not be an issue over time.” 94 Points, Antonio Galloni

2016 Ridge Ponzo Zinfandel 750 ml
“The 2016 Zinfandel Ponzo, from a site in the Russian River Valley, is a wine of power, density and impact. Black cherry, blackberry and plum fruit are nicely pushed forward. This is an especially succulent, fleshy style. The nuance and delineation of the best wines in this range isn’t quite there, but the Ponzo makes up for that with its immediacy.” 92 Points, Antonio Galloni

2016 Ridge Lytton Estate Petite Syrah 750 ml
“The 2016 Petite Syrah Lytton Springs is another fabulous wine in this range. Dense and powerful, the 2016 is endowed with striking depth and tons of character. The Petite tannins are nicely tamed in a wine that offers superb quality and pedigree. Creme de cassis, graphite, lavender and mint are front and center. The 2016 remains quite primary though, so readers need to be patient.” 94 + Points, Antonio Galloni
