Arnot Roberts

Here’s some crazy news for you: we discovered another tiny parcel of gold dust, this time being the super sexy (and damn delicious) 2016’s from Arnot-Roberts. While we recently offered and sold these wines back in August, the appetite and desire for them is simply enormous–as they should be. This is one of the hottest and most sought-after estates in California.

2016 was a terrific year for Sonoma. “2016 marks a return to a much more relaxed, growing season with ideal conditions for making wines endowed with energy, freshness and delineation that provide a striking foil to California’s natural radiance.” Reports Antonio Galloni. “Simply put, 2016 is one of the most consistently brilliant and alluring young vintages I have ever tasted in Sonoma.”

Also worth noting that last year, after tasting Arnot-Roberts 2016’s, Mr. Galloni proclaimed the estate to be “present-day American benchmarks.” Not too shabby.

Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts met as kids in elementary school and years later partnered up to re-define what California wine could be. Since 2001 they have struck awe-inspiring critical and commercial success becoming one of the most progressive and revolutionary wineries in the Golden State. Winemaking at Arnot-Roberts is rooted with an eye towards the Old World which means you always have native fermentations, little or no new oak and whole-cluster inclusion for their red wines. Their chardonnay is fermented in stainless steel and then aged in neutral wood – with a nod to their influence (and love for) Dauvissat and Raveneau.

Don’t miss your final opportunity to scoop up these Sonoma treasures! If you were one of the unlucky ones to miss out, here is your last shot!

2016 Arnot-Roberts Old Vine White

“The 2016 White Wine Old Vine Heinstein Vineyard, and old-vine field blend, is one of the most distinctive wines in the Arnot-Roberts range. Exotic floral notes are highly suggestive of aromatic varieties in the blend. The green apple, pear and mint flavors are given a good kick of saline-infused energy. This refreshing, highly original white hits all the right notes in a style that is loaded with personality. I loved it.” 93 Points, Vinous

2016 Arnot-Roberts Trout Gulch Chardonnay

“The 2016 Chardonnay Trout Gulch is wonderfully polished, nuanced and transparent. Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and chalk notes give the Trout Gulch its distinctive, bright flavor profile. In some years, the Trout Gulch has leaned towards the more austere of the Chardonnay spectrum. The 2016 has all the energy of the more tightly wound vintages, but with a bit more textural resonance that is the result of the wine having spent more time on its lees during aging.” 96 Points, Vinous

2016 Arnot-Roberts Clary Syrah

“The 2016 Syrah Clary Ranch is dense, powerful and meaty, but very much in the Arnot-Roberts style built on restraint. Beams of tannin enshroud a core of inky blue/purplish fruit. There is so much potential here, but readers will have to be patient to allow that to fully emerge. Rose petal, lavender, mint and blood orange add brightness.” 95 Points, Vinous
