Description

Dark ruby color, with aromas of wild fruit, spices and mint. The palate is intense and well-rounded, showing silky tannins and a persistent finish.

This wine, vinified with selected grapes from oldvines, is fermented in ancient marble “lagares”, using the tradicional foot-treading method. Slowly maturedin new French oak barrels for oneyear, the wine shows a dark rubycolour and a rich, wild fruit aroma, connecting with mint and spices. The flavour is intense and round, with silky tannins and a persistent finish.

The 2005 RESERVA is a rather different beast than the 2004. The Aragonez is gone, replaced with Petit Verdot, making it a blend of old vines Alicante Bouschet (50%), Petit Verdot and Syrah. Sunny and well balanced, this is a lovely performer with elegance and charm. It also has a notable nuance of the sauvage, a funky note that I commented upon the first time I saw it, perhaps including contributions from all three of the grapes that make up its blend, but it is rather better integrated now. Some will think it adds to the complexity, some won’t. It is a rather nicely constructed wine overall, though, focused and solid. Drink now-2020. ”
