Dark Origins is inspired by the cunning spirit and courageous personality of Highland Parks infamous founder, Magnus Eunson. This latest addition to the core expressions uses twice as many first fill sherry casks than in the classic Highland Park 12 year old resulting in a naturally darker, richer flavour.

Dark Origins is a new addition to Highland Park’s core range, inspired by the distillery’s founder, Magnus Eunson. The recipe embraces twice as many first-fill sherry casks than that of Highland Park 12 year old. Chocolate malt, caramel, and ripe bananas on the nose, with a whiff of coal dust. Silky on the palate, with dry sherry, autumn berries, plus more coal and a spicy, plain chocolate edge. Long and dry in the smoky finish, with black pepper. Mesmerizing aromas include bread dough, egg yolk, baker’s yeast, citrus, malted milk balls, barley, saltine cracker. Taste profile features honey, dark caramel, black raisins, oloroso sherry, dried rose petals. Aftertaste is extended, creamy, profoundly delicious.
