Description
La Follette Wines is a partnership between Pete and Terri Kight of Quivira Vineyards & Winery in Dry Creek Valley and winemaker Greg La Follette of Tandem. This Sonoma County winery crafts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from cooler climate vineyards in Sonoma (DuNah, van der Kamp and Sangiacomo) and Mendocino (Manchester Ridge). A graduate of UC Davis, Greg La Follette is considered an expert on wine yeasts and the effects that it has on the finished product. He began studying yeasts at UC Davis and continued to expand his knowledge and experience at Beaulieu Vineyard where he worked as a research viticulturist and enologist with Andre Tchelistcheff. From BV, he went to Kendall-Jackson and later, as winemaker and GM for at Flowers Vineyard & Winery built one of the most successful small Pinot labels in California. In 2001 he founded Tandem Wines to produce small lot Russian River Valley Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Greg is a consultant for the new UC Davis teaching winery and multiple winery projects around the world. The illustration on the wine bottle was inspired by a rare, 1847 first edition French viticulture manual. The tool in the winegrower’s hand was changed into a more whimsical magic wand to symbolize the mystical, almost alchemic relationship between winemaker and the vines.
