Established in the heart of Rutherford, the estate became one of Napa Valley’s early icons, earning an international reputation for the quality and ageability of its wines. In 1975, Francis Ford Coppola acquired the property and began a decades-long effort to restore Inglenook to its original identity. After nearly four decades of patient resolve and relentless negotiation, the Coppola family reclaimed the Inglenook name and trademark in 2011.

Today, Inglenook encompasses approximately 1,700 contiguous acres, with nearly 235 acres planted to vineyards. The estate’s remarkable diversity of topography and soils—from loamy, well-drained soils to deeper, finer soils surrounding the Chateau—creates a complex and distinctive expression of Rutherford terroir. It is this sense of place that remains at the heart of Inglenook’s philosophy: allowing the estate itself to speak through wines of character, balance, and elegance.

That philosophy is guided by winemaker, Philippe Bascaules, who joined Inglenook in 2011 after an illustrious career at Château Margaux. Although he returned to Château Margaux in 2016, Bascaules continues to oversee Inglenook as its Director of Winemaking. His approach is rooted in faithfully expressing the Estate’s terroir through what he describes as “rigor, intellectual honesty, and instinctive passion.”

Joining us to explore that philosophy is Jonathan Tyer, Inglenook’s Senior Associate Winemaker. A first-generation American who grew up outside Boston, Jonathan’s interest in winemaking began alongside his grandfather, making homemade wine from grapes trucked in from Lodi, California. That early passion eventually led him from a career in technology to harvest work in Sonoma and winemaking positions with acclaimed producers throughout Napa and Sonoma, including Stonestreet, Lynmar, Sojourn, Ladera, Hall, and Kosta Browne.

Jonathan joined Inglenook in 2015 and has worked closely with Bascaules ever since, developing a deep understanding of the estate and its approach to producing Napa wines with balance and elegance. Today, he oversees the logistics of day-to-day winemaking operations and offers a unique perspective on how Inglenook’s history, vineyards, and philosophy come together in the bottle.

For this special MasterClass, Jonathan will lead us through a remarkable lineup spanning Inglenook’s white wines, historic Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford Zinfandel, and the estate’s legendary Rubicon. We’ll explore the evolution of Inglenook, the nuances of Rutherford terroir, and the winemaking decisions that shape these distinctive expressions of one of Napa Valley’s great estates.

Featuring:

2023 Inglenook Sauvignon Blanc
2022 Inglenook Blancaneaux
2018 Niebaum-Pennino 1882 Cabernet Sauvignon
2019 Inglenook Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
2019 Inglenook Rubicon
2020 Niebaum-Pennino Rutherford Zinfandel Edizione

$25 ticket price includes 1.5 hr tasting of wines and cheese & charcuterie boxes by Baker's Best.
