Ancient Vines, Burgundian Touch
This is a serious, structured, and deeply textural white wine, sourced from a single vineyard planted as far back as 1880—some of the oldest Verdejo vines on the planet. Grown ungrafted in sandy soils that have spared them from phylloxera, these ancient vines produce tiny yields of intensely concentrated fruit.
But age alone isn’t what makes this wine so remarkable. The winemaking here is meticulous and Burgundian in style: extended lees aging, regular bâtonnage, and careful barrel aging give this Verdejo a richness, weight, and complexity that is rarely—if ever—seen in the region. Think golden stone fruit, fennel, toasted almond, and a saline, mineral spine, all wrapped in a creamy texture balanced by vibrant acidity.
This is not your weeknight Verdejo. This is a bottle for serious white wine drinkers—people who chase Puligny, who love López de Heredia whites, who live for texture, tension, and layers. It’s a wine that breaks the mold and redefines what Verdejo can be.
93 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
“The 2023 Nisia Las Suertes is 100% Verdejo from very old vines (possibly even the 1880s) and was aged on the lees with bâtonnage for a minimum of 7 months in French oak puncheons and demi-muids. It has more melon ball, hay, crushed stone, and subtly honey nuances that carry to a beautifully textured, layered white with a gorgeous mid-palate, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's a serious wine that's geared for the dinner table.”
