Alsace MasterClass with Domaines Schlumberger

Join us for an in-depth exploration of one of Alsace’s most historic estates featuring the wines of Domaines Schlumberger.

The story of the domaine begins long before the modern era. The Romans first planted the vineyards and were later tended by the Prince-Abbots of Murbach Abbey, whose monastic order established its seat in Guebwiller at the southern end of Alsace. In 1810, a local mill owner, Nicolas Schlumberger, purchased the first 50 acres, laying the foundation for the estate that exists today.

Now led by the seventh generation of the Schlumberger family, Domaines Schlumberger produces 100% estate-bottled wines sourced exclusively from its vineyards in southern Alsace. The estate has grown from its modest beginnings into 330 acres of contiguous vineyards, making it the largest vineyard holding in Alsace.

Among its prized sites are the historic grand cru vineyards Kessler Grand Cru, Kitterlé Grand Cru, and Saering Grand Cru, whose origins trace back to Roman times. 

In this masterclass, Etienne Heitz will guide guests through the history, terroir, and wines of Domaines Schlumberger, offering insight into how centuries of tradition, stewardship, and exceptional vineyard sites continue to shape some of Alsace’s most distinctive wines.
