Apéritif O'Clock MasterClass

Join Jake Parrott, Portfolio Manager – Aromatized & Spirits at Haus Alpenz and Sotolon Selections, for an immersive MasterClass exploring the rich traditions and modern relevance of aromatized wines and alpine spirits.

The three primary categories of aromatized wines are defined by signature botanicals: wormwood in vermouth, gentian in Americano-style aperitivi, and cinchona in quinquina or chinato, while vino amaro may incorporate a broader range of botanical bases.

Through guided tasting and discussion, participants will explore benchmark expressions including Cocchi Extra Dry, Cocchi Dopo Teatro, and Cocchi Americano Rosa from Cocchi, alongside the Corsican quinquina Mattei Blanc and the alpine-inflected Chamberyzette. The MasterClass also explores mountain herbal traditions through Dolin Genepy and Meunier Genepy, as well as bittersweet alpine and Italian amari such as Salers, Sfumato, Alta Verde, Pasubio, and Alpeggio.

Designed for beverage professionals and enthusiasts alike, this MasterClass offers both sensory analysis and practical cocktail applications, illuminating how Old World alpine and Mediterranean traditions continue to shape contemporary drinking culture. As always, Jake will bring a selection of light snacks to pair with these exciting selections.
