Spring Training: White Wine Varieties
Just as Spring Training is about mastering the fundamentals, this class focuses on the essential white grape varieties every wine drinker should know. We’ll break down classic styles and key differences so you’re ready for the season ahead—confident, refreshed, and well-prepared.
White wines are far more diverse than many people realize. In this foundational class, we’ll explore the world’s most important white grape varieties and uncover what makes each one distinct—from crisp and mineral-driven to rich and textured.
We’ll taste and discuss Chardonnay in both its oaked and unoaked expressions, highlighting how winemaking choices dramatically shape style. You’ll also explore the vibrant aromatics of Sauvignon Blanc, the range of sweetness and acidity found in Riesling, the refreshing versatility of Pinot Grigio/Pinot Gris, and the often-overlooked complexity of Chenin Blanc.
Along the way, Erika will guide you through key flavor profiles, regional influences, and practical tips for identifying these wines in the glass—and choosing them with confidence at a store or restaurant. Perfect for beginners and curious wine drinkers alike.
