A Monster Value Chateauneuf
The 2020 Louis Bernard Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the best Southern Rhône steals I’ve seen all year, and I’m not exaggerating when I say I had to double-check the price myself. $36.98 for real-deal CDP from a respected, old-school producer? That’s wild.
This is everything you want from Châteauneuf—rich Grenache fruit, warm spice, silky texture—and it drinks like something that should cost twice this price. Honestly, you open this for friends and no one will guess you paid under forty bucks.
If you want a bottle that brings an instant “wow” factor without the usual CDP price tag, this is the move.

Powerfully lifted black pepper, rose petal, redcherry, forest floor, liquorice, baking spice and herbal aromatics. Really complex, but still with some polished, soft fruits and a touch more oak spice on the palate. Finishes lengthily. Well-made and youthful, with time to go.
