A Great Montalcino Name. An Unexpected Tuscan Bargain.
Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona is one of the great names of Montalcino. A historic estate with roots stretching back to the 17th century, prized vineyards near Castelnuovo dell’Abate and Sant’Ant’Antimo, and Brunellos that have earned an international following amongst collectors.

So when a wine from this estate suddenly lands in Massachusetts at a price that seems almost too good to be true, we pay attention.
Here’s how it happened.
This 2024 Toscana Rosso was originally bottled for a restaurant group outside of Massachusetts. That group wasn’t able to take the final couple of pallets, leaving behind a small parcel of wine with nowhere to go.
Enter Nicholas from Areni Selections, who brought us a bottle to taste last week.
We were immediately into it. It had all the Old World character we wanted: savory red fruit, Tuscan herbs, spice, freshness and that slightly rustic edge that keeps pulling you back to the glass.
Then Nicholas told us who had made it, why it was suddenly available and, most importantly, what we could sell it for.
At that point, this became a complete no-brainer.
The wine is built around Sangiovese Grosso from Ciacci Piccolomini’s younger estate vineyards, neighboring the vineyards used for their Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino, with smaller amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
That’s what makes this such an extraordinary little find. This isn't an anonymous Tuscan red wearing a clever label. It comes from a serious Brunello estate, from estate vineyards in Montalcino, made by the same family behind wines that collectors cellar for years.
Somehow, because of one restaurant order that didn’t quite go according to plan, we get to offer it at a price that feels almost absurd.
Several of us have already vowed to grab a case for ourselves before it disappears.
There’s no second act here. No next vintage waiting in the wings and no future restock.
Once these bottles are gone, this wine is gone and it isn’t coming back. We hope you get to grab a case for yourselves before it's too late!
