Anjou Superstar Thibaud Boudignon is back in Magnum!

The Loire’s Best-Kept Secret Is No Longer a Secret

Thibaud Boudignon is a winemaker who firmly, yet quietly, has world to redefine tradition for the sake of quality. Originally from Bordeaux, he made his way to the heart of the Loire Valley and, starting in 2009, began crafting wines under his own name from a modest 3.5 hectares in Anjou and Savennières. From the beginning, his focus has been obsessively vineyard-first—organic farming, indigenous yeasts, no shortcuts. The result? Wines that hum with energy and precision, and speak fluently of the schist and volcanic soils beneath them.

Anjou, long overshadowed by its more famous neighbors, is in Boudignon’s hands a place of revelation. The Chenin Blanc here isn’t merely good—it’s luminous. With no malolactic fermentation and aging in large-format neutral oak, his Anjou Blanc offers razor-sharp clarity: citrus, white flowers, crushed stone, and a finish that insists you pay attention. In magnum, this same wine becomes a different experience altogether—more breadth, more texture, more time to appreciate just how dialed-in this winemaking really is. We’ve brought them to staff dinners, camping trips, even to the beach (yes, really), and they’ve never once let us down.

And then there’s the rosé—a direct-press blend of Cabernet Franc and Grolleau, drawn from the same schist and rhyolite soils. It’s a wine that takes its cues from the land: structured yet fresh, herbal and stony, with a whisper of wild strawberry and plenty of lift. Like everything Boudignon touches, it’s both serious and seriously drinkable.

It’s not often a winery becomes a favorite across the board—among sommeliers, collectors, and the people who drink wine for pure, unfiltered pleasure. But Boudignon has managed just that. His wines have that rare quality of making even the most familiar grapes and places feel new again.

Let me know if you’d like a few bottles—or magnums—set aside. I will also let you in on a hint;this has become a Gordon’s favorite over the years, and we have it on good authority that while we take this wine seriously, the magnums are also great for a camping trip and the Rose is beautiful at the beach…

“His attention to detail in the winemaking process, precise viticulture, dedication and passion for the terroirs mark him as one of France’s foremost vignerons and winemakers today.”
