Ever wonder where that old saying comes from? Before modern refrigeration, transporting oysters in the warmer months was risky. Oysters also typically spawn during warmer weather, often leaving them thinner and less flavorful. As the waters cool, many oysters become plumper, firmer, and especially delicious.
Now, let’s transition to why we’re here, this beautiful Muscadet from France's Loire Valley, near the Atlantic coast. Produced by the Sourice family, whose roots in Loire Valley winemaking stretch back generations, this Muscadet comes from vineyards near Vallet, where mineral-rich soils give the region's whites their wonderfully crisp, refreshing character. It's a beautiful example of why Muscadet remains one of France's greatest white wine values.
Made from Melon de Bourgogne and aged sur lie (on its fine yeast lees), this wine offers lively citrus, green apple, a wonderful saline minerality, and just enough texture to make every sip interesting.
Oysters may have inspired this offer, but you absolutely don't need oysters to fall in love with this wine! It's wonderfully refreshing on its own. Bright, clean, elegant, and incredibly easy to enjoy, it's exactly the kind of white we love pouring when friends stop by.
