The Ultimate Summer Red
Jean-Michel Dupré’s Beaujolais-Villages “Glou Glou” is what summer red dreams are made of—light on its feet, juicy as can be, and built to be drunk with a slight chill, a hot grill, and a crowd of happy people. This is what I had on the table for the Fourth of July!
Jean-Michel Dupré is an old-school Beaujolais grower based in the village of Les Ardillats, just north of Morgon, where he’s been farming Gamay since the 1980s. A former cattle farmer turned vigneron, Dupré knows the land and the rhythms of his vines. He works organically, harvests by hand, and vinifies with a gentle touch, using native yeasts and minimal sulfur. His wines are full of life and expression—unpretentious but full of soul.
“Glou Glou” isn’t just a name—it’s a vibe, as the kids would say. It’s the sound of the wine leaving the bottle, the pace you’ll be refilling glasses, and the kind of easy-drinking deliciousness that makes friends out of strangers. It’s 100% Gamay from old vines in Beaujolais-Villages, grown organically and bottled with minimal interference. What you taste is pure, crunchy red fruit: think raspberries, wild strawberries, and a little whiff of crushed herbs and spice. It’s bright, clean, and incredibly gulpable.
It’s low-alcohol, high-energy, and slightly chilled this is magical. This is not a wine of contemplation, but one of summer loving, for those summer nights.
