Summer Case Buy Alert, Delicious Muscadet
Crafted in the heart of France's Loire Valley, this classic Muscadet is everything great Muscadet should be: crisp, vibrant, and irresistibly drinkable. Made from 100% Melon de Bourgogne and aged "sur lie" the wine gains an extra layer of texture and complexity while retaining its signature freshness. These wines have become more and more my go-to as refreshing whites instead of Chablis as the prices of Chablis have climbed. Great on it’s own, as an aperitif, or with friends on the back porch, it’s a good go-to for having cold in the fridge at all times.
In the glass, the 2025 opens with bright aromas of lemon zest, green apple, white flowers, and sea spray. The palate is lively and mineral-driven, offering notes of citrus, orchard fruit, and wet stone, all carried by refreshing acidity and a clean, mouthwatering finish. It's a wine that feels both elegant and effortless. What makes Muscadet a favorite among somms is its remarkable food-pairing ability. Domaine de la Chauvinière shines alongside oysters, clams, shrimp, grilled fish, and sushi, but it's equally enjoyable with goat cheese, salads, or simply as an aperitif on a warm evening.
The 2025 vintage is particularly attractive for its purity of fruit and balance, showcasing the maritime influence and mineral-rich soils that make Sèvre-et-Maine the benchmark appellation for Muscadet. Every sip is a refreshing, bright array of flowers and citrus, making you want to come back for more.
