Founded in Aberdeen in 1842, Cadenhead’s is Scotland’s oldest independent whisky bottler. Originally established as a wine and spirits merchant by George Duncan, the company was later taken over by his brother-in-law, William Cadenhead, who gave the firm its name. Over the decades, Cadenhead’s developed a strong reputation for selecting and bottling quality spirits, particularly Scotch whisky. In 1972, the company was acquired by J. & A. Mitchell & Co., the owners of Springbank and Glengyle distilleries, and was subsequently relocated to Campbeltown, where it continues to thrive as a respected figure in the whisky world.
