Ottella is based in Lombardy, in the north of Italy, in the area between the provinces of Verona and Brescia, on an area of flat land. This area is made up of varied layers of compact chalky clay with micro-organic sedimentation. This type of terrain, together with the extraordinary microclimate in this part of Lake Garda, provides optimum conditions for the cultivation of the Trebbiano, or as it’s locally known, Turbiano. The climate, in combination with the white clay soils of the Le Creete vineyard, are what gives this wine its electric character. The first thing you notice about this wine is the exotic nose of pineapple, grapefruit, and fresh herbs. The aromatics are reinforced on the palate which is rich and fleshy without being cloying or heavy. A distinct minerality, acidity, and a touch of white pepper on the finish keep the wine evolving on the palate. This is a tremendously satisfying wine that totally overdelivers and if you haven’t tried it yet, well… what are you waiting for?
