Look, I’m not going to talk this wine up in my usual manner. I shouldn’t need to. Drouhin’s Chambolle 1er Cru is widely recognized as one of the greatest values in all of Burgundy. A blend of Chambolle 1ers Crus Noirots, Hauts Doix, Borniques, Plantes, and Combottes, this cuvée delivers on everything we look for in Chambolle 1er Cru – supple, sultry and silken fruit, lacy textures and a strong sense of florality.

By now, everyone knows that 2005 is a modern legend in Burgundy. And what’s more, they’re finally starting to drink. Opening ever so slowly, the prodigious 2005s have everything – structure, concentration of fruit, a sense terroir – and the 2005 Drouhin Chambolle 1er Cru is no different: supple, sweetly fruited, with silken textures and a lovely sense of harmony.

Aged Burgundy is a glorious, though exceedingly rare thing to behold. We only have a few cases of this jewel. When it’s gone, it’s gone.

Burghound: “A background note of wood serves as a backdrop for equally elegant, pure and refined, indeed even airy red pinot and raspberry suffused aromas that dissolve seamlessly into sweet, rich and beautifully well balanced middle weight flavors that possess excellent finishing intensity, vibrancy and persistence. I very much like the sense of underlying tension and reserve here.” – ♥ “Outstanding”
