Édouard Parinet of Chateau du Moulin à Vent & Roc de Boutires

April 17 @ 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Join us alongside winemaker and owner Éduoard Parinet as he features Chardonnay and Gamay from his two prized estates located in Pouilly and Moulin-à-Vent.

About Roc de Boutires:
In the village of Pouilly, in the middle of the Pouilly-Fuissé AOC lies Domaine du Roc des Boutires. The winery’s name draws on both terroir and tradition: its proximity with the Roche de Solutré, an emblem of the appellation and a testament to the extraordinary geologic richness of this vineyard; as well as the domaine’s settlement in the very heart of one of the best terroirs of the appellation – “Aux Bouthières.” In the ancient French vocabulary, a “boutière” was a secondary road that mule skinners used for the transportation of oils and wines in remote parts of the country. The vineyard of Domaine du Roc des Boutires is only 5 kilometers (3.12 miles) west of the ancient Roman track of Via Agrippa, on a very small road which now leads to the village of Solutré, the hills of the Mâconnais and the plains of the Charolais.

About Chateau du Moulin à Vent:
Located in the southernmost tip of the Burgundy region, Moulin-à-Vent was one of the first appellations awarded AOC status in 1936. Château du Moulin-à-Vent, named for the 300-year-old stone windmill atop the hill of Les Thorins, dates back to 1732, when it was called Château des Thorins. Today, the estate encompasses 37 hectares (91.4 acres) of the appellation’s finest climats — Les Vérillats, Le Champ de Cour, La Rochelle — planted to Gamay Noir averaging 40 years in age. The underlying granite soil is rich in iron oxide, copper and manganese, which may account for the wines’ aging potential. Since 2009, under the new ownership of the Parinet family, investment in the winemaking facilities and the vineyards has resulted in plot-specific signature wines expressing the individual characteristics of each exceptional terroir.

About Édouard Parinet:
Vintaged 1984, Edouard joined his father in the estate in 2011 and is now the face of the Château. In 2012 he completed the acreage of the château with some new vineyards of la Rochelle and also found some white sources in 2016 with the acquisition of Domaine du Roc des Boutires. He has settled since 2011 a whole new distribution network for the estate. These are now 150.000 bottles that are shipped each year in more than 20 different countries.
